Hi!
My name is Haley Parker and I am a photographer from Columbus, Ohio and achieved a Bachelor's degree in Studio Art with an emphasis on Photography at The Ohio State University. I specialize in portraiture and events, but I dabble in any form that I can find. I mainly shoot digitally with my trusty Nikon D750, but you can for sure spot me working with film photography here and there. My goal as I create images is to ignite empathy for people you may have never met, form a place of power for the mundane, and create a a feeling of nostalgia and respect for places you may never have been.
The most authentic and genuine of moments are rarely posed, planned, or prompted. They can be curious and bold, outraged and wishful, embarrassing and shy, solemn and unchained. When captured, the subjects often don't even notice I was there as they are consumed in the moment, and the viewers of the resulting image are invited into the unavoidable empathy of that passing second.
I aspire to visually describe moments that tell their own stories the way a familiar face would about memorable experiences in their life. I am inspired by the details that linger in the memory of a person or moment long after they're gone -
The nostril flaring and stomach clutching as he lets out one of his big bellowing laughs,
The lips pursing and the single eyebrow raise when she's not convinced,
The gaze out the window as he contemplates and considers.
These in-between moments represent the cherished characteristics that last a lifetime in our memories, and can be admired for generations when photographed.
